Ok here is my story which I would like to remain ANON as I have family in Indo and it could prove dangerous for them if my name was published.
After 12 years on Lombok finally had to leave after Sept 11, Timor, and the Bali Bombing, couldn’t make enough money to keep the kids in good school etc etc so upon selling my house and business decided to by some samples of local product to market back here in Oz and to ship it back along with our personal belongings.
I used a company named Nominasi Candra on Lombok with their head office in Denpasar, Balinese owned and operated, so I pick out the price I wanted which was around 1 month for arrival in Australia, that was in May 2004, I leave and return to Australia and 1 month goes by and I have no news whatsoever through to June and many phone calls to the Lombok office who told me in the first instance that the cargo was stuck in Surabaya due to a lack of containers caused by the elections and no imports coming into the country, I kept calling for progress reports and eventually they started hanging up on me and or telling me the boss was “out” or “istirahat”.
Needless to say I became very frustrated and eventually get my guy on Lombok to pay them a visit only to receive the news that they had neglected to tell me the price I chose was to send only to Adelaide and not Sydney as I had requested and given a Sydney address for delivery. So now my cargo was heading to Port Adelaide and not Sydney how could I get this corrected ? “Oh you cant, why ? What’s the problem” ? Well I explained Port Adelaide is a couple of thousand kilometers from where I asked you to send the cargo !! “ “Well that’s where you chose top send it” No I asked or it to go to Sydney look at my address and the original order. Hang up !!
I finally get the phone number of the office in Denpasar who have no paperwork or any recollection of my cargo but will check it out with their Lombok office ? Many phone calls and more expense it goes on until in the first week of July they tell me that it has just arrived in Bali and now is on route to Surabaya but they still have no paperwork for me no ship name nor ETA. The Lombok office had lied to me all along as they had not even dispatched the cargo to Bali before the 1st of June and yet had been spinning me stories of it being held up on the docks in Surabaya.
Mid July I get this info and am told with much laughter at my whining about the port of discharge that they can find out of the company they sent it through if I can change the port of discharge during the journey ? So now I find out they are not even the company shipping the cargo but just some up front agent using another shipping company. Ok they tell me with a laugh that I can change the Port of Discharge on route but it will cost me another US $700 which is three times what I have already paid for the whole shipping deal. I jump up and down and they just laugh more until I hang up in disgust.
Ok I need the name of the receiving agent and customs agent they use in Australia preferably the office in Port of Discharge so I ring again, “Port Adelaide” “Don’t know this” is the answer, “Can you please find out as I need the documentation to enable release of the cargo on arrival” Sorry” “The documentation hasn’t been sent yet” “Why not” I ask “Where is it” “Oh it’s here in the drawer” comes the answer with a laugh. Just send it to me please. OK we will send it to you.
About a week later I receive the documentation turns out after being told this cargo price was all inclusive it is not there is no customs agent to receive the cargo so I must clear it through customs myself as well as transport it from Port Adelaide to Sydney.
So after two months of blatant lying and deceit the cargo is finally on route to Australia but instead of May it is sent in July two months late after sitting in some backblocks office on Lombok.
August and I have contacted the receiving agent in Adelade and their office in Sydney. No they tell me you cannot change the Port of Discharge this late in the voyage, lucky I didn’t pay the lying morons on Bali another US $700 eh ?, but we can ship road freight for you to Sydney AUD $220 then of course there is the unloading cost of $350
So I am up for an extra Aud $570 to get my cargo in Sydney but still must clear customs myself and to add to that because of their lies and deceit I have lost a buyer willing to import regularly with me so I lose potentially thousands of dollars as do the poor people I am buying from on Lombok and trying help out along the way the people who would have made some profit to get their kids in school etc are no better off.
This company are liars and cheats who do not provide the service you pay for with them, do not know the business at all that they are supposed to be providing as a shipping company do not even know the difference between Sydney and Adelaide as Ports of destination.
I could go on and on and quote the phone conversations etc but suffice to say the short story is enough for you to get the general idea about this company.
If you would put this group on the nastiest list on your site I would much appreciate it as would any others who have had dealings with them and it may save others great loss as well.

By the way my cargo has still not arrived and is now lost somewhere between Port Adelaide and Sydney and it looks as though they have marked half only as personal and half as export items and I may now get a massive customs cost to top off the other extra expense because of their inadequate business acumen. I have also been informed that there is a “ large hole in 1 box” so God knows what has happened there and what damage or theft has occurred, I’ll keep you posted.
